Are Democrats Ignorant or Sexist? The Questioning of Sarah Palin's Executive Experience
ABC News' Charlie Gibson recently interviewed Republican VP Nominee Sarah Palin. He continued to question her experience in the delusive manner common in the media.
In one exchange Charles Gibson asked Governor Palin if she hesitated when asked to be John McCain’s running-mate. She responded, no. He then asked, 'Didn't that take some hubris?' Hubris is to be arrogant, over confident or cocky. When Charlie Gibson interviewed Barack Obama, he did not ask Obama if it was hubristic of him to assume he could be president. This has been the trend of the media. With few exceptions the media have unleashed attack after attack on Sarah Palin’s experience; few if any of those same people have questioned Barack Obama’s, Joe Biden's or John McCain's. Questioning Palin’s Experience?Palin was a city council member for 4 years, then a mayor for 6 years. She served on the Alaskan Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and resigned because of the lack of ethics by fellow members. She fought and had those individuals removed, one of whom was the chair of Alaska's Republican Party. In Dec. 2006 she was elected Alaska’s first female governor. She has spent 6 years making executive decisions, appointing and removing state employees, overseeing and managing city and state economies, and solving state problems by directing bureaucratic bodies and deploying a state national guard. Does she have the experience? Unequivocally yes! Barack Obama has not done one of those things. He has been a senator for 5 years. His only job in government, ever, has been to vote yes or nay on laws and governmental appointees. The latter he proved unable to do scrupulously in the case of Chief Justice John G. Roberts. Obama said in a recent interview with Bill O’reilly that our troop surge in Iraq, 'succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated. Including President Bush...' He believes war is a political game and our troops are pawns in it. What was anticipated was that US soldiers would eradicate those that are killing innocent people and obstructing the establishment of an open democratic government in Iraq, nothing less. They weren’t sent there so he or anyone else could spin their performance for political expedience. US troops expect and deserve his unconditional support, whether he voted for their mission or not; that doesn’t just mean a publicity stop to a veteran’s hospital either. The decision to go to war was made and he should respect and support it, whether he agrees with that decision or not. Not respecting and not supporting it fuels divisiveness in the US and abroad. It also endangers US troops. Not realizing this is a sign of Obama’s inexperience and his inability to lead. Ignorance or Sexism?Taking all these facts into consideration one literally has to ask the questions: Are Democrats (including ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN News organizations) so uneducated that they do not know the difference between an executive and a legislator? Or are Democrats just gambling that enough of America is that ignorant? Barack Obama seems to think that finding someone a job is the equivalent of being a state governor. He has certainly not questioned the media’s assertion of this. If he doesn’t believe that his silence testifies to his lack of character. Do Democrats just not believe women are incapable of being president? They deprived 600,000 voters in Florida and Michigan of their votes to stop Hillary Clinton from receiving those delegates, this after 8 years of complaining that the Supreme Court had stolen the 2000 election from Al Gore by denying Florida Democrats their votes. A sentiment Obama agrees with. Obama praised Reagan’s presidency. Does he not know Reagan’s only governmental experience prior to the presidency was 8 years as a governor? Do he and his democratic friends know the same is true of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush? Were they all unqualified? The last US President that served as a state senator prior to his election was Jimmy Carter. Everyone remembers how well that worked out.
